Programme Overview

The Automotive Engineering Technology programme prepares students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and problem-solving abilities required to inspect, service, diagnose, and repair modern motor vehicles.

The programme combines classroom instruction with intensive workshop-based training, exposing students to automotive systems, engine technology, vehicle diagnostics, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance. Students gain hands-on experience using industry-standard tools and equipment while developing the competencies needed to work confidently in today’s automotive industry.

Graduates are equipped for employment in automotive workshops, dealerships, transport companies, manufacturing industries, or self-employment through automotive service enterprises.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following admission requirements:

Academic Qualifications

Six (6) credit passes (A-D or A1-D7)

Core Subjects

Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies.

Elective Subjects

Three (3) relevant elective subjects.

Mature Applicants

Applicants aged 25 years and above may be considered under the Mature Applicants category.

Proof of Age

Applicants must provide acceptable proof of age.

Work Experience

Applicants must possess at least two (2) years of relevant work experience.

Entrance Assessment

Applicants must successfully complete any required entrance assessment.

Practical Training

Practical learning is central to the programme. Students gain hands-on experience through:

How to Apply

  1. Apply Through CSSPS

    Admissions to Ramseyer Technical Institute (RTI) are primarily conducted through the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) managed by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

  2. Meet the Admission Requirements

    Applicants are considered for admission based on their performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E.) conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

  3. Check Your Placement

    Successful applicants are placed by the Ghana Education Service (GES). Placement results are published through the official CSSPS platform and displayed on the school's notice board. Admission letters provide all the information required to complete enrolment.

Foreign and Private Applicants

Foreign students and private candidates may apply directly to Ramseyer Technical Institute and may be required to sit for an internal entrance examination.

Transfer Applicants

Students wishing to transfer from another technical or senior high institution should contact the school administration for guidance on eligibility requirements and transfer procedures.
