Kumasi: 63 youth complete 3months training under GreenvetAfrica Project

Sixty-three youth from the Ashanti region have successfully
completed a three-month training program under the
GreenvetAfrica project.

A graduation ceremony was held in their honor on Thursday,
August 15, 2024, by the project’s implementers, Whizzy
Innovation Hub and Ramseyer Vocational Technical Institute.

During the ceremony, certificates of completion were awarded to the graduates, officially recognizing their successful training in waste management and entrepreneurship. This graduation marks a significant milestone, as the GreenvetAfrica project is the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on green waste management in both Ghana and Nigeria.

Mr. Charles Asante, Accountant for Ramseyer Vocational Technical Institute, who chaired the
event, highlighted the importance of the project in equipping learners with essential technical
skills. He emphasized that the training positions the graduates at the forefront of sustainable
development in Ghana and encouraged them to explore the vast opportunities within the
waste management sector.

“By focusing on your diverse backgrounds and committing to environmental stewardship, you
have the power to create innovative businesses that not only thrive economically but also
contribute to the well-being of our planet. Whether it’s through engineering solutions that
reduce waste, fashion that embraces upcycling, construction that prioritizes sustainable
materials, or catering that minimizes food waste, the possibilities are endless,” Mr. Asante
remarked.

Mr. Tweneboah Korankye, Managing Partner for Whizzy Innovation Hub, expressed his
optimism that the skills acquired through the project would enhance the trainees’ job
opportunities. He urged the graduates to make the most of their newly acquired skills in any
job they undertake.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the event, Mr. Anthony Sarkodie Amankwah,
Principal of Ramseyer Vocational Technical Institute, also encouraged the graduates to
monetize what they have learned. He advised them to be innovative and creative in managing
waste and to seize opportunities to turn waste into profitable ventures.
